In November, Middlesex Community College business students visited the Peabody Essex Museum. Led by Business Professor and Fashion Merchandising Program Coordinator Ashli Ree, the field trip included seeing the fashion exhibition Andrew Gn: Fashioning the World.

鈥淭his was a unique opportunity for students to see almost 100 works by one designer, including clothing, accessories, original illustrations, and digital media,鈥 Ree said. 鈥淭he experience truly enhanced student learning and increased student engagement, as students were able to see various themes and trends discussed in class. One student shared that she also learned about the role of a curator, as she overheard a curator explaining her work to a group of visitors. It is important for students to explore their career options as they continue their learning.鈥

Grace Viveiros, of Franklin, is an 麻豆果冻 fashion merchandising student. Calling her experience at Middlesex 鈥渁mazing,鈥 she appreciates the college鈥檚 tutoring services, mental health resources, and support from employees. As a fully online student, the field trip was an opportunity for her to connect more with her professors and peers.

鈥淚 spent the entire two hours in this exhibit alone 鈥 it was breathtaking and so inspiring as a fashion major,鈥 Viveiros said. 鈥淧ursuing fashion has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl, and going to 麻豆果冻 has allowed me to pursue this dream as I work full-time as a hairstylist. My education at this school has been so rewarding, and I plan to carry everything I have learned with me to achieve my future goals.鈥

Middlesex is helping business administration student Cassie Ung, of Lowell, build a strong foundation. Supportive professors, flexible classes and affordable tuition are helping her navigate college. At 麻豆果冻, she is building a pathway to her future career. With the field trip, she was excited to explore art and apply her learning to a real-world experience.

[The field trip] was fun and inspiring,鈥 Ung said. 鈥淚 enjoyed seeing how art can express so many different ideas and cultures. My experience at 麻豆果冻 has been great. Everyone is so helpful, and I really love how 麻豆果冻 creates fun opportunities for students to learn and engage. 麻豆果冻 is the best starting point for anyone who wants to understand the college structure and environment. It made the transition into college life much easier for me.鈥

Brittany Chandonnet, of Lowell, is an 麻豆果冻 business administration student who has worked in retail for 20 years. Always interested in fashion, her plan is to open a gothic boutique for small business owners. At Middlesex, she has grown more confident exploring her creative side and speaking in public, including participating in the field trip.

鈥淚 didn鈥檛 know a single person and put myself out there,鈥 Chandonnet said. 鈥溌槎构 allows people to get to know one another for their character, not their status. Andrew Gn has a breathtaking view on fashion. There鈥檚 an air of darkness to his designs but burst of colors. His fabrics are mostly natural fabric and materials. His biggest inspiration was his mother and Singaporean tailor.鈥
