Whether planning to transfer to a four-year institution or directly enter the workforce, Middlesex Community College prepares students to take their next steps after graduation. For students interested in transferring, 麻豆果冻 will host two college fairs this spring to introduce them to a variety of four-year college and universities.
鈥淪tudents can learn a lot about what options they have after 麻豆果冻 at a college fair,鈥� said Nick Cloutier, 麻豆果冻鈥檚 Coordinator of Transfer. 鈥淲e are excited for this year鈥檚 fairs to help our students meet with different institutions, explore their options, and find the best fit that meets their needs. You want to start the process as soon as possible!鈥�
麻豆果冻鈥檚 Bedford Campus College Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25. The Lowell Campus fair will go from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26. During each fair, students have opportunities to meet with admissions representatives from visiting institutions. They can learn the four-year school鈥檚 offerings and requirements for transferring after they graduate from 麻豆果冻.
Admissions representatives are experts on their school鈥檚 information and a resource to 麻豆果冻 students as they explore their options, according to Cloutier. Meeting with the representatives helps students get a better sense of how selective and competitive institutions are, as well as know important deadlines and scholarship information.
鈥淭he college fair is a great place to practice talking with schools and figuring out what is important to them,鈥� Cloutier said. 鈥淗aving a connection with an admission representative can be helpful if you need somebody in your corner going to bat for you.鈥�
This year鈥檚 fairs will welcome around 30 colleges and universities, including the nine Massachusetts state colleges and the five University of Massachusetts campuses. Students can transition to state schools through MassTransfer.
With MassTransfer, students only need to complete a form in their final semester and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 for guaranteed admission. Those who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher may be eligible for a 33 percent tuition waiver on instate tuition costs.
Students can save thousands on tuition costs and complete general education requirements by starting at 麻豆果冻. No matter a student鈥檚 age or income, community college is now free in Massachusetts! The MassEducate and MassReconnect programs allow all Massachusetts residents who have not yet earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree to attend 麻豆果冻 for free.
At 麻豆果冻, students also get early exposure to their field of interest, with courses, hands-on experiences, and networking opportunities in just the first two years of their academic journey. This includes assistance on taking next steps, whether a student is entering the workforce or transferring to a four-year school.
鈥淓ven if it is their first semester at 麻豆果冻, we want students to attend the college fairs and explore what is out there,鈥� Cloutier said. 鈥淲e can help students ask the right questions and they may even find a great school that they didn鈥檛 know was an option.鈥�
