Middlesex Community College partners with Aved Electronics in Billerica on a Workforce Training Fund Program. Run through 麻豆果冻鈥檚 Corporate and Community Education and Training department, the college worked with Aved to write and submit the grant, as well as to offer employee trainings.

Founded in 1979, Aved provides services for battery packs for industries including medical defense, robotics and communications, according to Drouin. The company partnered with Middlesex to offer their employees training programs in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and management.

Working with Drouin, 麻豆果冻鈥檚 Corporate and Community Education and Training team helped build the curriculum and match instructors to meet the company鈥檚 needs. Classes are offered on-site during working hours to make attending the programs easier.
鈥淚 need to read, write and speak in English,鈥� said Anjanaben Patel, a Battery Assembler at Aved. 鈥淚 learned how to speak in English and understand how to talk with other people.鈥�
Middlesex has partnered with Aved on two Workforce Training Fund Grants, including in 2018 and 2022. Once approved, the college worked with Drouin and the company to implement the trainings for current and newly hired employees.
鈥淚 wanted to take ESOL because it鈥檚 used for communication everywhere, and required at many companies,鈥� said Sangita Patel, a Solderer at Aved. 鈥淏efore, I couldn鈥檛 do the job, this is my first experience and it鈥檚 a memorable first job.鈥�
